Can a dentist somehow accidentally damage patients brain while doing a dental surgery?

Sure. I suppose that while performing dental surgery, the dentist could drill up into the brain cavity. After all, the top of the mouth isn't very far from the brain. I'd say the chances of this happening are very low, however.

Everything is possible..
Reply:Wow at least you can still type
Reply:Dental surgery or more correctly termed oral and maxillofacial surgery itself will not damage the patients brain unless the doctor doesn't know what they are doing. There is no reason for the doctor to be anywhere near the brain. What should concern patients more is the possibility of nerve damage during surgery which would cause permanent numbness or tingling in the surgical area. Brain damage is always a remote possibility during general anesthesia or iv sedation but this is an Anesthesiologist issue and can happen with any surgical procedure involving patient sedation.
