What do oral surgery dental assistants do?

what do they do during an average day, is it beter than gp dental assisting?why?

What do oral surgery dental assistants do?
Yes I think it is. I have been a dental assistant for 2 years now. My first job was as an oral surgery assistant. There's a rush with oral surgery I think. GP you do different things, it's alot to remember in GP. In oral surgery you basically do the same procedures day after day. I loved OS. I am now looking for a job in OS I hate GP.
Reply:As far as it being 'better' than working for a GP, that will depend on you...

Oral surgeons perform surgery all day, which can range from extractions to I%26amp;D's (incision and drainage) to apicoectomies, implants, etc... while working for a GP involves different procedures with different instruments.

The bottom line is that you're still an assistant, and while the procedures differ in each office, the infection control protocol, sterilization, OSHA and HIPAA are still the same.

You just need to figure out which office you would be more comfortable working in...

Best of luck to you!
