Dental sedation?

How is being put under for dental work different from any other surgery?

I have heard that you are kinda still awake. How does it feel when you wake up?

Dental sedation?
Dental and Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
Reply:It depends on what the dentist uses and if he uses gas then you are not awake. If he uses Demerol or other pain killers then you are sort of awake but there should be no pain
Reply:When your put under for dental work they use a small amount to sedate you compared to other surgeries...you wont be as groggy when you wake up.
Reply:Well, I had dental surgery done to me once. You really don't feel anything. While the suurgerys being done you have a fuzzy feeling in your head. When you wake up however, you may stumble around a bit, BE CAREFULL AROUND STAIRS! I nearly fell down when I had gotten home, and also, you may want to sit down before you do anything psyical.
Reply:You are only out for a few minutes and when you wake up you can start toi function pretty quickly.

As a fellow cowardly patient I'll tell you its the only way to go.
Reply:Nitrous is conscious sedation and after you come out of it you still feel alittle sore in your mouth. The reason for using this anesthesia is so the patient will feel comfortable than without it. Some people are more scared than other or want to be comfortable. It has to do with your preference and when you wake up, there is still some soreness.
Reply:I often give dental sedation to my patients, you have herad right..you are awake and that is one of the most importnat things when talking about IV Sedation. You feel very light headed and slightly sleepy...people say its like taking Valium..you can take it for dental work if you are very anxious as it makes you more co-operative and happy for any procedure to go ahead, although you do not get any pain relief from it and hence need injections to numb your teeth.

Within 24hrs you will feel yourself again..your not sleeping but you will be aware of things around you. You can go about talking the same etc

sorry this is a long answer ..got carried away (",)
Reply:there are many types of sedation -- some of them just relax you and allow the dentist to work while you are awake -- they wear off fairly rapidly and you shouldn't have any side effects...
