Do you save long term with Dental discount or fee for service plans?

I am considering a plan that is $100/year, the Aetna Dental Access plan. However, my savings account could cover Oral surgery for wisdom tooth extractions, cleanings, exams, and an occasional cavity (this is work that I will need). Would I be better off to just pay for these with my savings? I know oral surgery will be like $3000 but the plan will only get me like 10-30% discount.

MOST PEOPLE DON'T ALWAYS SEE A BENEFIT AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE. ALSO, SOME DENTIST'S DON'T TAKE AETNA. BEST TO CHECK AROUND AND DO THE MATH. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY IN CASH MANY DENTISTS OFFER A DISCOUNT.

Not all offices are participating providers with the Aetna Access Plan. You should research their provider list, and see if anyone is in your area.





While $100 a year for dental benefits is unheard of, you'll still be paying out of pocket either way.





Make a list of what you need, and find out the fees for both the Aetna plan and paying cash. Then decide what you want to do.
