Do dentists put you to sleep when you under go surgery?

I'm going to have a dental surgery soon and I'm really worried for the fact that I'm still in high school. I was wondering if the dentists were goind to put me to sleep. I have to pull out a tooth by surgery and re aling a tooth by surgery. Do you think they will put e to sleep? because I am completely affraid of needles(the numbing) and I hate the feeling of blood in my mouth. I'm so nervous please help me.

It really does depend on the dentist and the seriousness of the procedure. Some dentists ask what you prefer. I would just reccommend asking to be put to sleep for the surgery.
Reply:It is a choice, but most people prefer to be put to sleep.
Reply:Mine did. I had to request it though.
Reply:you will be asleep. They use gas so you won't feel pain. It might hurt afterwards but you won't remember the surgery
Reply:i doubt any doctors would conduct a surgery on a conscious person. unless, like, they want to see you die from a heart attack.
Reply:When I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed I asked NOT to be put to sleep. I get sick from anesthesia. So they just gave me laughing gas %26amp; I was in La-La Land. Didn't feel a thing %26amp; recovery was a breeze. I would do it the same way if I had to again. Hope all goes well for you!
Reply:Yes the dentist will put you to sleep. My two year old son had surgery last Saturday. His tooth/cavity was absessed and

it had to be taken out. I was able to stay in the room with him

until he feel asleep, and came in immediatly after. The

surgery was less than thirty minutes.
Reply:I had 2 "wisdom" teeth pulled at your age. The novacain numbs you completely (and doesn't hurt). I was awake while Jonny Cash sang "Boy Named Sue", over the speakers. All 3 of us had to laugh when he sang the part, "...and he bit off a piece of my ear...and we rolled around in the blood and the guts and the beer", just as the dentist layed a little piece of (my) meat on my bib. The timing was SO funny! William, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I went to school the next day with a GREAT story!
