MAY I ask you a dental Question?

My mother had dental surgery and they took 14 bottom teeth out. now she has what appears to be small pieces of bone coming through the gums. IS this normal?THEY are still sore spots. WHAT can we do? It has been 6 weeks ago she had them pulled.

MAY I ask you a dental Question?
STAR,

THESE AREAS WHERE THERE ARE SMALL PIECES OF BONE THAT APPEAR THOUGH THE GUMS ARE SOMETIMES SEEN WHEN THERE HAVE BEEN TRAUMATIC EXTRACTIONS.

NOW THAT IT'S BEEN DONE,A SIMPLE TRIMMING OF THESE BONY SPOTS BY YOUR DENTIST MAY NEED TO BE DONE.

THIS IS A SIMPLE SURGICAL PROCEDURE AND DOES NOT TAKE LONG TO DO.
Reply:call the oral surgeon -not the Yahoo Answers.
Reply:to be save pls go back to the dentist to get it check out
Reply:You should only ask her doctor this question. She needs to make a 15 min. recheck appt. with her doctor. She should go in soon. She should be able to get right in for a short 15 min. recheck. they can fit 15 min in any time.
Reply:I've spent plenty of time at the dentist's office and I've had a few teeth pulled myself. My dentist also told me it was normal if any tiny bone shards came out of the socket during healing. I trust my dentist and he's been a great deal of help. If it becomes seriously painful or she is just really nervous about it, have her speak to her oral surgeon and that should be of some comfort. If need be, you could also seek advice from another surgeon/dentist or a dental assistant and they should be more than happy to help with your concerns. After 6 weeks, it is not uncommon to still have "sore spots". Give it a few more weeks and it shouldnt be so sore. Everyone is different, and each spot can be different as well. Sometimes it may take 2 weeks for it to feel better and other times it may take 12.
