This oral surgery is for my nephew, a student who has no dental insurance. It is a requirement prior to joining the Peace Corps.
In San Jose CA, what is the ball-park price for oral surgery of an impacted wisdom tooth, no dental insurance?
Call the dental school at UC SF. You might get a deal if he is willing to be a practice patient for a student. They have a teacher - who is a very competent dentist - standing at one elbow, so if anything goes wrong the teacher steps in. It takes longer than normal, though.

Reply:are you sure he has to go to an oral surgeon? many general dentists do extract wisdom teeth. if you have the xray of the area and it is current- have your local dentist take a look at it to see if he feels he can handle the procedure in his office because undoubtably- his fees will be lower than a specialists fees
