i had surgery on monday this week and my face is still swollen..
it was dental surgery and they removed all 4 wisdom teeth (my jaws to small to contain them) + a complicated BABY tooth + its adult one at the upper right side of my mouth..
i was asleep for 2 hours while i was being operated on and it was day surgery (meaning i came home afer about 1 hour recovery time at hospital).
ive been having soft foods, especially runny eggs, noodles and thicker water + my tablets but it doesnt seem to be getting better
what i want to know is:
is there any way to make the swelling LESS? ive been using ice but its taking long..
thanks..
I had surgery about 2 days ago and.. HELP?
With that many teeth removed, Im afraid theres not a lot you can do about the swelling. If there is no infection involved, you will just have to continue to ice and wait it out for another couple of days. Thats really a lot of teeth to have out at once.. make sure to keep your pain under control.
good luck.
Reply:Swelling is normal especially if u had all 3rds removed at the same time. Think about it.......u had four teeth removed and now u have four different holes in ur mouth.......so what does ur body do when it's injured? It starts to repair itself and sometimes swelling and bruising happen in the process.................and most of all pain. So remember.......no spitting, sucking, no straws, no carbonated drinks. Continue to take ur meds and use the ice packs. And more than anything...if u do not follow the post op instructions from ur dentist...u will get a dry socket which is when the blood clot comes out from the extraction site. Dry sockets cause major pain and one usually gets them 3-5 days after the procedure. Good luck and sorry u had to endure such pain.
Reply:Pain pills ,anti-bio tics and Listerine, I know that it is painful but it does work Keep your mouth clean ! I had this same surgery and didn't have a bit of trouble Good luck and I hope that this helps
